2017 FERMENTATION WORKSHOP SERIES
The act of fermentation not only makes tasty brews but also makes delicious additions to our diets that provide beneficial bacteria for our bodies. Come learn how to create living foods and preserve produce using minimal equipment!
Fermentation expert Angela Gardner of The Root Cafe will take you on a practical journey through a series of hands-on fermentation workshops at Natural Grocers (9210 N Rodney Parham Rd, Little Rock, AR 72227). Please join us for any/all of the following workshops! Limited space, so sign up soon!
There will be three workshops ($35 each):
- Fermented Beverages — Thursday August 24, 2017 6-8pm: Bubbles anyone? For this installment of fermentation, we will dive into the realm of traditional beverages, focusing on Kombucha and Ginger Beer (grain free). Bring a glass pint jar if you would like to start your own ginger ‘bug’ or to take a kombucha ‘mother SCOBY’ home with you.
- Cucumber Kimchi — Thursday September 21, 2017 6-8pm: Also known as Oisobagi, this traditional cucumber kimchi is one of our favorite fermented pickles. This fermentation workshop will include discussion about tools and spices needed to initiate fermentation within your own kitchen. Take your very own jar of cucumber kimchi to ferment at home!
- Sauerkraut — Thursday November 9, 2017 6-8pm: This cabbage-based fermented dish is a classic. Learn the basic recipe and discover how to get creative with additional ingredients. Take a pint of your own sauerkraut creation to ferment at home!
See you there!
